Tintern Fete

Saturday 27th June 2020

Plans for Tintern Fete 2020 are aleady well advanced.
Save the date, Saturday 27th June.

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, our theme is children's literature. There'll be live music all day, a magician, circus workshop, children's creative writing workshop, drumming workshop, dance troop performance, poetry and fancy dress competition, a great variety of stalls, lots of lovely food, our fully licensed bar and (OK we know it's a cliche but it is so completely true) much much more!!!!!
Titnern Fete 2019. What a day to remember!
Unbroken sunshine, a warm evening and free entry to a whole host of entertainments, a bigger-then-ever range of craft stalls, and refreshments from some outstanding producers of food and drink made this special a day to remember.
From midday until late, there was something for everyone. Marking the 50th anniversary of the moon landing we had astronauts on stilts, roving aliens, a mad science lab with a gunpowder rocket launch, and an evening light show with robots.

More traditionally, there were swing boats, a coconut shy, Rainbow Gecko, and Arnie Kazam's children's magic show.
As usual, there was also a great line-up of live music acts throughout the day and into the night with Forest Treblemakers, Under the Covers, The Rob Connolly Band, Lee McCrory, Echo Bandits, and Creatures of Habit.
While the music was cooking, high quality fast food to suit all tastes was served by World Foods, Cheesetown Productions, and Emma's Pigs. Local brewery Kingstone had brewed beer and lager especially for the occasion under the space-themed name Hopollo 11. And making its debut was the much-acclaimed Wye Valley Gin from Silver Circle Distillery.
More stalls than ever completed the picture, with craft producers, specialist food and drink makers, and voluntary organisations.

Winner of the Space Rocket Competition was Toby Davies who had built a very imaginative rocket and (with a little help from Dad) had devised a lift-off system which took it at least a metre off the ground. He received a certificate and a specially-designed Tintern Fete T-Shirt.

The Tintern Photo Competition received a large number of very high quality entries, making the choice of winner a challenge for the Fete Committee. Colin Dudley was finally closed as the winner with his photograph of cattle in the winter snow above Tintern. The winning photograph and other entries can be seen here.

2019 Fete Report
The Tintern Festivals Association prepared a report on the 2019 Fete which can be viewed below. Its main aim is to provide evidence of the use of funds to grant-makers who kindly supported the event but it also gives an insight into how much organisation is required to put on a successful fete each year.
